The Osa Mountain property consists of over 750 acres of pristine, old growth forest in the Fila Costeña mountains located near the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica’s southern pacific region. The land sits on a finger ridge offering epic views of the pacific oceans coast line and the Terrabe River valley. Most people cannot stop saying “Wow” over and over again the first time they see the view from the property.
On the low side our land starts at about 800 feet elevation. The square mile of land extends up the mountain side reaching 3,100 feet elevation at the highest point. The village itself sits at an average of 2,000 feet elevation. This is a perfect altitude to live at in Costa Rica. The land is green and lush like the coast of Hawaii or any other tropical location. It’s one of the things that makes the Osa Peninsula area so special. By living up above sea level the temperature is about 10 to 15 degrees cooler. It is also an advantage when it comes to pesky insects like mosquitos which are common at sea level and much less bothersome at higher elevations.
There are several fresh water springs on the property that all feed into one another creating a substantial river on the property with three impressive waterfalls of 40 meters, 65 meters and 100 meters. At the top of the property it feels like you’re walking into a wildlife preserve with three types of Monkeys visiting and living on the property. The highest areas of the property spend a little more time in the rolling clouds creating a unique coastal cloud forest on the property with twisting, turning vines and tree limbs adding a spooky feeling especially if a fog rolls in.
Birders will have a field day, if you’ll pardon the pun, at Osa Mountain Village with over 80 species of birds, including Harpy Eagles, having been seen so far on the property. As you can imagine there is a lot of wildlife living within a mile of jungle. There are also miles of foot and mountain bike trails on the property to enjoy.
All things considered the land which Osa Mountain Village is being built on is amazing.
